Hello, I passed the CPC exam ( first time trying! ) in Feb.2013 and have yet to find a coding position. Most places I have interviewed wants a hospital coder or someone with lots of experience. I have 14 years of medical billing experience with 5 of those working in oncology. I have found everyone wants someone to jump in without having to sit and train them. I have an eye for every detail and would make a great coder. I have discovered unless you are a person who already works at a facility with a foot in the door there is no chance for the people on the outside. I am basically just a "billing specialist with a CPC". I plan to go back to school in Jan. to learn facility coding b/c that is where the jobs are.
