Does any one know the guidelines for billing CPT 15780.... I was informed by the practice that the 15780 is billed all together as a series of 4. So I billed it to the auto insurance as 1 line with a quantity of 1 unit with the fee they provided to me for the series of 4, however the auto insurance came back and said that they do not pre pay for services and that we need to bill it all as separate services? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dermabrasion of the total face?

It has a 90-day postop period. You do the entire face. It technically shouldn't be performed again within 90 days. You can, but then you are in a postop period and not billable unless it's for something else.

Coming from the dermatology world, dermabrasion is often considered cosmetic unless it's for certain conditions.

Take this Medicare LCD for example..

Group 1Codes

ICD-10 CODE DESCRIPTION
L71.0 Perioral dermatitis
L71.1 Rhinophyma
L71.8 Other rosacea
L81.8 Other specified disorders of pigmentation

Now if it's being done for a scar as a result of an auto accident, it may need to be billed differently. I don't have expertise in auto claims.
