The code description for 20610 states "after administering a local anesthetic", however, the provider gave the injection to the supraspinatus bursa "without local." Can I still code the 20610 even though there was no local anesthetic used? if not, what code would be most appropriate?

This code is used to report injections and aspirations for both major joints and the major bursa. When injecting the joint, you're gonna want an anesthetic for sure. However, when inject the bursa, anesthetic is generally not given, or they swab you with a lidocaine gel, which is not reported. So you can report 20610 for a bursa injection.
