Wiki CPT 28730 Arthrodesis - How many fusions?

This code shows as multiple. My doctor tells me that he did 8 fusions ; 1,2,3 TMT jts; medial & lateral IC jts; and 1,2,3 naviculocuneifrom jts. He wants to know if there is a better code that would describe this many fusions. I can only think of modifier 22. Does anyone have any comment?

Hi Rebecca, unfortunately your stuck coding a -22. There are no other arthrodesis codes. All of these are tarsal joints. This is one of those times that the deserving surgeon is not going to get paid what they should get paid.
