CPT 49617 vs. CPT 15734 for global days, which one do we follow?

Hello, the new hernia codes 49617 has 0 global days but coded with code 15734 which has 90 days global period. What E&M should we be using when there's a follow up visit done? 99024 or 99231?

If you are coding 2 CPTs, you need to follow whichever has the longest global period. You would only bill if the services provided are outside of the global package, with -24. The CMS Global Surgery booklet is a great reference.
