Our physician ordered a scoliolis series with additional bending lumbosacral and cervical views. Can we bill the 72082 with 72114 and 72052 or should we bill only the 72084? Our x-ray tech said according to the description of 72081-72084 the bending views would not be included in any of those codes.
 
NCCI doesnt allow for the code combo you want to do.

72084 is minimum of 6 views

Why would a bending view not be included in the description of 6+ views included under 72084?
 
I believe the bending view would be included but our x-ray tech is arguing that it should not be because she typically would not do a bending view when doing codes 72082. She thinks it is extra work so should be allowed separate.
 
She is welcome to write into the group responsible for NCCI. They are both column 2 codes to the new scoliosis eval codes and have an indicator of 0 so no modifier will bypass the edits
