CPT 87210 Wet mount (vaginal) with KOH done under PPM certificate by MD

I have just been informed my the MD, OBGYN that his colleagues are getting paid for a 87210 and 87210 with 59 modifier. As I read the definition - both the wet mount looking for bacteria, fungi etc. and the KOH are ALL under one code and cannot append a 59 modifier??? Anyone else getting paid x2 and have insurances come back and recouped, would be very interested. ALL to often docs say "my colleagues have been paid for" and when you do a deep dive - they have NOT been paid for what they billed as it was not correct coding. Thanks folks. Ann

My understanding is that if the physician is preparing 2 separate wet mount slides, then 2 units of 87210 is appropriate.
