Good Morning
A provider inquired about whether CPT 99459 pelvic exam could be reported when she examines a male's genitals related to low testosterone. Any formal reference would be greatly appreciated Many thanks

You make a good point because men have pelvic areas too. But heard & used for ONLY female gender pt. during pap or exam vaginal or pelvic private area. It must be recorded in documentation the name of assistant during exam .

No, that's just part of the work for the physical exam included the E/M code.

The CPT 99459 does not have any Work RVUs associated with it.

CPT 99459 only has Practice Expense RVUs. It was created to assist with the cost of pelvic examination packs, such as speculums and in-room chaperones.

It would not be appropriate for your physician to use to inspect male genitals.
