Does anyone know if there is a replacement CPT code for 89399 for unlisted pathology test? It is for a thoracentesis panel.

Hi Allyson
Why not use CPT 88305 and link the proper dx code to it. 89399 is unlisted and not in CPT manual CPT code 89399 was an "unlisted" or "not otherwise classified" code for reproductive medicine laboratory procedures, but it's now a deleted code. Try CPT 82378

Hello allysonjaynes@allimso.com. I would need some additional details with no PHI to help you with CPT assignment here. Was it truly pathology or a laboratory test? I need some additional information to assist.

TThivierge, you are AGAIN a little out of your wheelhouse here. Really, you are recommending billing CPT 88305! Along with 82378. When you don't have a freaking clue what was performed. You are dangerous thinking you have all the answers, and you really have nothing. I am reporting this post.

allysonjaynes@allimso.com I don't take a comment ever at face value. I research it to death. Just because someone chimes in doesn't mean it is 100% accurate. Inaccurate billing, over paid RVUs or Underpaid RVUs. Working denials on the back end. I just have no idea what you are faced with here. I would not suggest CPTs codes without seeing documentation.
Thanks,
Dana
