i was trying to determine cpt code. I am trying to decide if i could use CPT code 27350 or 27599. Or if there is a better code to use.
An incision was made anteriorly, the patellar tendon exposed. I made a midline incision into the patellar tendon, not detaching it from the patella, but exposing an 8 x 10 mm piece of bone that had grown into the patellar tendon, I am assuming from his prior trauma. Again, the integrity of the insertion of the patella tendon was not violated. We dissected using the Bovie around the bone spur, and an osteotome was used to remove the bone in its entirety. We used live fluoroscopy to assist. Manual palpation confirmed complete removal of this bone. The patellar tendon was then repaired side to side with 0 Ethibond, 0 Monocryl subcutaneous, and staples closed the skin.
