Hello!
One of our surgeons came in and preformed an abdominal wall reconstruction on a patient, immediately following an excision of a large abdominal wall tumor by another surgeon. He used mesh for the abdominal wall reconstruction and wants to bill for the implantation of the mesh. The only code I can find for that is 49568, which is for implantation of mesh during incisional or ventral hernia. Technically, this wasn't a hernia... or was it? Per the op note, there was "exposed abdominal content;" however, it wasn't a protrusion of tissue at the site of a healing surgical scar (as the definition of an incisional hernia states). Please help
