Hello! I have two questions regarding behavioral health coding:
- Are therapists required to add the CPT code on the clinical notes? From everything I learned during CPC training, we never had any example of clinical notes that included CPT codes on the notes. Our clinicians are used to adding the CPT codes on the therapy / clinical notes, so I was curious to know if this is required.
- CPT 90863 - when adding this code with psychotherapy CPT 90834 (not E&M provider), does CPT 90863 must include a prescription and review of medication? Is it appropriate to code it if there is no new prescription, or adjustment of meds?
