is craterization of the talus and of the medial cuneiform cpt code 28120. And can I charge with 2 units/quantity? Or do they have separate codes?

I found this on the website for the NYS Podiatric Medical Association:

  • For the medial cuneiform, bill with CPT 28122 (Partial excision (craterization, saucerization, sequestrectomy, or diaphysectomy) bone (eg, osteomyelitis or bossing); tarsal or metatarsal bone, except talus or calcaneus)
I then looked into the medial cuneiform (podiatry is not in my wheelhouse) and the 28122 seems to be correct.
I did, also, look up the MUEs for 28120 and it is 2 units per DOS, just an FYI if anyone else was looking for this information

Read through the CPT descriptions of both 28120 and 28122 again. Look for the key words talus, tarsal and except. You should be able to figure it out.
