I currently work at an outpatient facility and am familiar with office/outpatient coding. I am looking to possibly make a change and I want to be as prepared as possible. What is the best type of training or best credential to have if working at a Critical Access Hospital? I was thinking CIC but I wanted to check before I signed up for anything.

Any suggestions from current CAH coders would be appreciated.

Thanks!

CAH Coders

I work in a CAH and I hold the COC (use to be CPC-H) credential and I am the Emergency Dept Coder. Absolutely love it!!!!
We also code all the hospital clinics and Inpatients, etc.

CAH Reimbursement

I saw your post and am happy to know you love what you do! Wound have a few minutes to let me pick your brain about CAH reimbursement?

Much appreciated,

Linda

HI. I wanted to let you know that I currently for a CAH hospital and the only credential I have is my CPC. I only code for the ER, outpatients, and inpatients. LOVE IT!!!

I know this is a really old post but wanted to add that ArchProCoding has a CAH Billing and Coding Specialist credential and also a RHC/FQHC Coding Credential. I have the CAH credential and I felt that the course was super helpful :)
