Can I bill a critical care code for place of service 22?

Anywhere

Critical care can be provided in any setting per CPT as long as documentation, especially at least 30 minutes of CC are documented. This does not mean a given payor especially Caid plans might not deny the claim. But you should win on that with documentation to support CC.

Thank you Jim,

I thought so but I just wanted another opinion. Its doesn't seem like critical care and out patient would go together.:)

It doesn't!

Christine,

And I think some payors will agree. But in theory CC could be provided in the field. Either way you will probably have to support the billing with documentation.
