When billing the Category III codes for CT heart structure and angiography codes 0144T-0151T, is the professional component more likely to be billed by the radiologist or the cardiologist? Both docs read this, but we need to put a policy in place as to which provider can bill for this. Is there an industry standard, or does it depend on who gets their bill to the payer first?

Thanks,

This may be something that needs to be decided by your hospital. At our hospitals, it's the radiologist who bills for it. When cardiology and radiology are both involved, it's better to have an understanding than to try to beat each other to the billing.
