We have been getting more and more denials lately on 70450 when billed with 70496. I've found lots of different things saying both yes and no about them being billed together. Most of the time they are ordered together in the ER as a stroke protocol. It's kind of iffy on different things whether 70450 is included in 70496 as the non-contrast images.

We have been seeing the same thing with MRI/MRA combos, which I assume is the same idea as far as the non-contrast images go, if I'm correct about that being the reasoning.

Is this correct? I'm 99% sure we shouldn't be billing them together, but am hoping for some sort of concrete article/proof/evidence stating the actual reason for that.

Thank you!
