My doctor has some questions about the with & without hematuria for Cystitis N30 codes. Does this refer to gross hematuria? She feels that if the pt. has cystitis they are going to have some microhematuria. We've been using the with hematuria codes so far.

I'm looking for some thoughts on this. Thanks so much!
 
I have the same question

I'm researching the clinical definition of Cystitis with and without Hematuria because one of my providers feels it refers to gross hematuria, rather than from a lab result. The provider selected "cystitis without hematuria" because the patient didn't note any blood in the urine, but the UA result in the chart note says 2+ positive for occult blood. If I code N30.00, will that be supported by the lab result?
