I am wondering about the correct coding of a cystoscopy with irrigation of the bladder. The provider wants to bill 52310; I am not certain that this is correct. I am inclined to use CPT 52000.
Location
bladder
Pre-Procedure Exam
Procedural Sedation
nitrous
Technique
A timeout was performed confirming the patient and procedure. he was prepped and draped in sterile fashion.
Pink healthy stoma
Flexible 16fr scope was inserted through urethra
urethra had no stricture
Bladder demonstrated significant mucus which was irrigated out.
bladder augment was large, very little native bladder is visualized
the patient tolerated the procedure well.
Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Thank you!

If it is irrigation of blood clots is the bladder 52001 would be the correct code if the cystoscope is used. If it is a simple bladder irrigation that code is 51700.

I am certain that is not 52310 - he's not removing any calculus/foreign body/stent or anything. this would code to 52000+51700 but 51700 is never allowed with 52000
