Hello,

When I come across abortion encounters, providers are checking Pregnancy dating on U/S. I was wondering if we use Z36.87- antenatal screening for uncertain dates to link to U/S CPT? Or use Z33.2?

Example:
ULTRASOUND PROCEDURE, LESS THAN 14 WEEKS:
Indication: Pregnancy dating
Approach: [x] transvaginal [_] transabdominal
Number of fetuses: 1
Gestational sac: [x] seen [_] not seen
Yolk sac: [x] seen [_] not seen
Embryo: [x] seen [_] not seen CRL 0.26 cm = 5w6d weeks
Cardiac activity: present
Placenta location: too early
Amniotic fluid volume: [x] Normal [_] Abnormal
Uterine position: midline
Adnexa: [_] Normal [_] Abnormal [x] Not well visualized
Final gestational age: 5w6d weeks

If they are not performing the abortion at this visit or date of service I would not report Z33.2
