Pt path report shows: low-grade duct carcinoma in situ, cribriform type with microcalcifications ER + PR +.
My question is can DCIS be billed alone or does it need a secondary diagnosis? Any input would help.

DCIS does not have any associated "code also" instruction and can be reported as the only diagnosis. I would personally still assign a code for ER status, when known.
