We had a pt (insufficient prenatal care) who was 21 weeks pregnant with twins and delivered. Twin A- delivery of a nonviable twin at 21 weeks and twin B- Dr. describes the delivery as a dilation and evacuation. The question is at what stage can you bill a delivery for twin A? We cannot find a specific gestation age.. does the baby have to be over 28 weeks or just 20 or does it matter? Any insight would help!! Thank you!:o

According to ACOG, you cannot bill for delivery if gestation is less than 20 weeks. Baby A (21 weeks) should be global delivery code and a D&C procedure, as you mentioned.
