I am in need of information on how to code dementia with behaviors. If a physician documents a diagnosis of dementia w/o behaviors and then a diagnosis of anxiety how would this be coded? Would it be coded F03.94 or would it be coded F03.90 and F41.9? If they just diagnosis dementia and diagnosis anxiety would I code this as F03.94 and just assume they are connected? Please help this is really confusing me.

Code both separately when the doctor states dementia w/o behaviors, so both cannot be linked together.

if provider states Uns dementia and depression seperate, what we we code ? Whether F03.93 or separate codes

The “with” rule automatically connects these symptoms to the specific complication. Dementia with mood disturbance: depression or apathy.
