According to the 2013 Diagnoses Coders' Desk Reference:

Partial Edentulism is the loss of one or multiple teeth; whereas, Edentulism is the complete loss of all teeth. Edentulism is divided into four classes defined by the level of complexity in treatment for complete edentulism.

Specifically - Class IV:

"Class IV is the most debilitating requiring reconstructive surgery when all teeth are missing or the most severely compromised oral manifestations with poor outcome prognosis in partial edentulism. Treatment is primarily prosthodontic in nature with missing teeth or adjacent structures being restored or replaced with artificial, biocompatible structures"​
