Hello: I was just hoping for a 2nd opinion on this.:eek:

The doctor did a redo Thoracotomy and unroofed the mass that was very firmly attached to the descending aorta.

He did not do a resection.

I am not sure if 32100 would be correct :confused:because it is under Lung and Pleura section. He did expose the whole chest. I have not been able to find another code so I am hoping someone can help lead me into the right direction....

Hi Deb,

I think you could use 32100. If the mass is attached to the descending aorta then it is within the chest cavity which this code covers. While the code may fall under the lungs and pleura section, the actual code description does not mention lungs or pleura so, in my opinion, anything in the chest would fall under this.

My other idea is maybe 39010 but I think 32100 would work.
