I have managed to get my CPC-A and my CPB and will literally work for any company at this point. I’ve been putting jobs in my area and remote. The demand is high but I can not manage to get any responses back and I am starting to feel hopeless. I hope someone out there can help me figure any of this out please.

Go face to face and ask to speak to human resource or manager of coding or billing department. Check your area where health care business located....hospital, rehab, clinics, doc offices, billing company, lab or insurance companies. First complete app online then physically go there with resume and apply unannounced or ask for appointment with human resource or coding manager. Use Linkedin or email coding manager directly once find name. Join the AAPC charter in your area and go to meetings to network. This is extra measure may have to do...I did this and it worked. Good Luck! You may have to work in office a month or 2 first before get remote coding job.

PS To get into huge medical center apply for ER or Clinic registration first, then transfer after 6 month or so

I agree with Lady T...... join and participate in your local chapter. I have hired quite a few individuals from those meetings.
I wouldn't look exclusively for remote jobs, or initially for coding jobs. Any hospital experience you gain at this point is going to help you with your understanding of the revenue cycle.

I have looked mainly for in person jobs, as I find it very unlikely I would get hired straight to a remote job as that’s likely too good to be true. The only issue is my local chapter and even the ones around it, they don’t meet in person. All local chapter meetings are regarding conferences and they end once the information is parsed. They are also only through zoom. So unfortunately I am not sure how to network in those because there isn’t any sense of community or discussion in those as it’s not an option. When the meetings end everyone signs off and goes their separate ways. I would be more than happy to take any job that would really work me hard. I am excited to get anywhere in the industry and i will work my way through anything, I've applied to literally everyone I can in my area and even outside of of my area by quite a bit. I may have someone take a look at resume, I am not sure where to have that done. If you have any recommendations I will take a look at having that done. I appreciate the advice and will continue to try to apply it

The difficulty with my area is im located in SO-CAL and so the job market is vast. In my more local area there aren’t as many opportunities and most of them reside with major organizations in the LA region. For many of them I don’t have the option to find, even some of the postings on their website don’t fully classify what department (for instance this is how UCLA formats) and so it leaves me limited in being able to contact them. I’ve put in applications through AAPC, indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, just about everyone platform I can. I am not sure if it’s because of my experience or maybe even my resume, but I haven’t received any responses back that are positive. I don’t have a large healthcare background and am still very young and therefore brand new to the industry. I appreciate the advice, and I’m just slightly beaten down. I am willing to do any work for just about any company because I know I can do well. I think a lot of people may NEED experience which I unfortunately understand. I imagine part of my difficulty is finding people who want to hire fresh cert out of the gate. Thank you for taking the time to respond it means a lot!

I am feeling discouraged as well. I earned my CPC-A in November 2024. I am working on Practicode now - on my 192nd case - it's extremely difficult but I am trying to do 5 - 10 cases a day. I have applied for about 10 medical office jobs, mostly in reception, the replies for all jobs "not moving forward". I am 62 years old so am thinking about just applying for a retail job so I can at least earn some money while continuing to look for a medical office job & continue to work on Practicode.

This is upsetting but I do know healthcare business budgets are tight. I suggest try a billing company or commercial insurance company or lab company. Have you thought of medical device company in your area? Go to local hospital or urgent care to see if can do ER or clinic registration to get foot in the door. Good luck !

Oh, I hear you on that. The local chapters may also have threads on here, that you could possibly start to communicate. Stay strong, you've got this!
