My name is Vicente Prado, and I am a new member of the AAPC. I successfully passed the AAPC membership exam on December 12, 2024. I am currently seeking an entry-level job, shadowing opportunity, or internship to gain more hands-on experience in the field. I am based in Louisville, KY, and would greatly appreciate any guidance or information about opportunities that could help me further develop my skills. My email is vixavprado@gmail.com.
Thank you.

Congratulations on passing your exam! The first thing you'll want to do is to attend your local chapter meetings. I believe there is one in Louisville. There, you'll have the opportunity to meet other coders along with hiring managers. Get involved and get yourself and your name out there.

The other thing you may want to consider is to look for entry-level jobs outside coding...... patient registration, medical records, scheduling, front desk representative, etc., so that you can at least get your foot in the door of a healthcare organization. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your advice and encouragement! I will definitely look into attending the local chapter meetings in Louisville to connect with other coders and hiring managers. I also appreciate your suggestion about considering entry-level positions outside of coding, such as patient registration, medical records, and front desk roles. That’s a great idea to gain experience and start building my career in the healthcare field. Thank you.

Thanks again for your guidance and support!
