Is it appropriate to bill the global code for device interrogations and programming when done in the office by the RN. A physician is in the suite for direct supervision. We recently heard that if a physician is not in the room and personally doing the device interrogation and only the RN is doing the work we could still only bill with the -26 modifier. Anyone have any documentation regarding the proper billing of device checks?
