Indication is osteoporosis screening.
Impression is osteoporosis.
Dexa scan has been done. How to code this?????

Was the forearm done or the spine?

For spine you would use- 77080 with primary dx of 733.00 and secondary of V82.81. (Medicare)

Forearm- 77081 with the above listed dx codes.

When screening is the reason for the test you must use the screening V code as primary for all payers. Any finding is considered incidental and is a secondary code.

You are correct- Screening should be listed first. My brain was not working correctly this morning. The guidelines clearly state that if the reason for the visit is specifically for the screening exam. My apologies again.
