If a patient with Diabetes but without any other documented conditions related to the DM (neuropathy, circulatory issues, etc.) comes in for a foot care evaluation, is this a covered service by Medicare or would it be considered routine foot care? The exam is also negative for any findings. From what I could find, diabetic foot exams are only covered by Medicare if they have LOPS. Is that correct?
Thanks,
Sue

If you don't have peripheral vascular disease or any Q findings, I think you are out of luck. Have the patient sign a ABN.
