Would 250.80, 272.4 be correct combo dx for diabetic dyslipidemia?-- When the triglycerides are elevated and HDL is low-- which is a specific phenomena that can occur with diabetics. Question came up because 272.4 is 'other and unspecified hyperlipidemia'. Would it be correct to have this unspecified dx code together with the specified 250.80.code? What about 272.7 (lipidoses-lipoid storage NOS) with 250.80?
 
250.80 is the correct code as long as it isn't documented as "uncontrolled". I would use the 272.4 for dyslipidemia as it states "OTHER" and "unspecified"
