Our podiatrist is the "supplier". She will measure for shoes and do impressions for inserts during a visit, then places the order with Dr Comfort. Sometimes this [measuring for shoes] is done during an appt where the pt is seen for reasons other than shoes, sometimes not.

When the shoes/inserts arrive at the office, the patient comes in for an appt to try the shoes on, then signs off on receiving them.

The word "fitting" in the A5500 code description is confusing, as I've seen this word being used for shoe measurements, and then again for trying them on when picking them up. I know some podiatrists carry shoes in their office, so they do this all in one visit - and all of that work is considered inclusive of the A5500.

We do not bill separately for the shoe measuring when it is the sole reason for the visit. Are we correct?
