Hi, Is there a new DX code code for Hepatitis C Carrier, My Dr. uses z22.52. but claims are coming back rejected as dx cpt code not valid? I rebilled 1 claim with replaced dx code V02.62 just to see if it will be accepted.
Not sure if there was change in the DX code for billing recently ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

R

Well it's invalid because it doesn't exist. Z22.52 is not an ICD-10 code. Regarding V02.62, that's an ICD-9 code. CMS and the AMA updated to ICD-10 in 2015. You will need to use a code from the latest code set. Try a search on icd10data.com, see if you can't find a code from the current set yeah?

Z22.52 was discontinued in ICD-10 in 2016. If you look up "carrier" in the current ICD-10 index, it directs you to the B18.x series of codes for hepatitis. See if that helps.
