I'm coding for a Neurologist who treat stroke patients.

When is it appropriate to code 781.99 vs. 729.89? What kind of verbiage should I look for?

GTE, cpc

Here's how I associate it...

Abarognosis: loss of the ability to detect the weight of an object held in the hand or to tell the difference in weight between two objects = 781.99

Intracranial pressure=781.99

Cheiromegaly: an abnormal condition characterized by excessively large hands=729.89

Rheumatic nodule=729.89

Seems like 781.99 leans more towards nervous system issues

What do you think?
