When coding FESS procedures, don't I need to code NASAL AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION when a turbinectomy is done as separate procedure from ethmoidectomy. Some say that is a "symptom" of sinusitis and doesn't need to be coded. My thought is that it indicates medical necessity. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I agree that you would only code what the provider documents. I would think the patient would have turbinate hypertrophy to support the medical necessity of of a turbinectomy. But I am not a physician :)
