We are coding the professional portion for the reading and interpretation performed in the hospital. I was wondering which diagnosis we are to use when coding off the result page? I come across a few that have normal result. I was told we are supposed to use the diagnosis that was written on the consultation report but then I heard that each not stands alone:confused:

You should use the final impression at the end of the echo report. If it is normal use the indication( the reason why the echo was done) example SOB or chest pain. If the indication isnt written on the report usually at the top you can go back to the consultation where the echo was mentioned in the plan and use the dx there.
