I have recently began coding for a Center for Breast Health and I am getting conflicting information. Should the V code for history of breast cancer be used in all follow-up visits after lumpectomies and mastectomies or do you have five years to code the malignant neoplasm the patient had prior to either procedure:confused: One article I read said some physicains use the malignancy just to get around the V code not paying. Can someone give me the correct answer. Thank you.
