Hi all.

I work for an independent diagnostic laboratory. We receive blood and tissue samples via mail and freeze the samples until they are ready to be submitted into testing. Our tests TAT in the lab is 2 weeks to 3 months depending on the test being run.

Should we use the specimen date as date of service or the date the test completed and reported in the lab?

Thanks to all for your help on this.

Specimen

It is actually payer specific, for most insurances it will be the day it reports. For medicare and Humana it will be the date of draw.

Thank you!!

Thanks so much for the confirmation on the accuracy of our current procedures. We have had some questions come up recently.:)
