Any suggesstions for the appropriate CPT code when the lumbar spinal injection is to diagnosis whether the pain is from the retained hardware from a previous surgery or not? Provider wants to use the facet inj code but he truly is not injectiong the facet joint...

Is this a discogram your physician is doing? We have a physiatrist in our practice. He does discograms to diagnose where and what level the pain is coming from. These codes are 72295 (for the discography) & 62290 (injection for discography) for each level. Hopefully this will help you out.
