Wiki Disabled MCR patients under age 65

We have some disabled MCR patients under the age of 65 so MCR will not pay for a physical or routine services. The patients have no chronic conditions; therefore, we can't use a chronic dx to justify billing routine services, such as venipuncture. Any ideas as to how we can provide preventative services and catch a problem with a patient before something bad happens?:confused:
 
An option would be to see if you can convince them to join a Medicare managed care plan. Many of those cover routine physicals when Medicare does not. Medicare still has a long way to go when it comes to recognizing preventive care. It wasn't too long ago that a welcome to Medicare or annual wellness visit wasn't even an option. Just because a service is not covered doesn't necessarily mean the provider shouldn't recommend a service. Obviously they would need to self pay and might need to sign an ABN but if the office is able to convince the patient it might be better off in the long run.
