A bit confused and would like any resources or help understand. I have a provider who is billing a discharge code of 99238 after his outpatient procedures, I thought 99238 would be included, maybe I'm confusing myself :/, if 99238 even considered appropriate

Hi! CPT code 99238 is for discharge from an Inpatient Hospital admission...so if your patient was there for an Outpatient procedure they wouldn't need to be formally "discharged".
