If provider notes in A & P DM without complications (E11.9) with MEAT and further down in the A & P notes CKD 3b with MEAT, would you code the CKD as a complication of the DM? No other cause is noted for the CKD. Would it pass a CMS RADV to code the CKD as a complication of DM?

Yes, under ICD-10 coding guidelines, CKD is always presumed to be a complication of diabetes unless the provider specifically documents that it is unrelated. It would be incorrect coding to do otherwise.
