Our physician brings a shoulder abduction brace from our office to the hospital OR and it is put on the patient immediately postoperatively. Can we bill for this DME item? What POS would we bill? If they are inpatient can we bill Medicare since we have to bill POS 12? Thanks for your help!
 
If the patient is Medicare and is inpatient you can not bill Medicare. The hospital has to supply the brace or you have to give the patient the brace at the pre-op appt and have them bring it with them to the hospital. Our local MAC has instructed us to bill them with POS of 12. Hope that helps
