If my provider admits a patient for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and consults gastro but doesn't see patient after gastro diagnosed the patient with gastritis would I use the gastritis code on the claim or just the symptoms? Since she went out of town and someone else saw the patient after the diagnosis there isn't mention of the gastritis diagnosis in her notes for those visits before the diagnosis was assigned.
