Am tring to find out if insurance companies require seperate documentation for abdominal uand transvaginal ultrasounds or can both be dictated in the same report. We currently use ultrasound software and our physicians dictate both together.

This is not my area of expertise but ...

When a surgeon performs mutliple procedures in one operative session there is no requirement for separate op reports for each procedure, as long as each procedure can be clearly identified in the body of the report.

I would think that as long as each procedure can be clearly identified in the body of the report, one report combining both would be sufficient.

I have tried to educate my docs to always ask for a new paragraph for each procedure when they are dictating (with limited success, but it's still worth mentioning to them).
