Wiki Documenting cast and splint procedures

Are there any guidelines or rules on a physician's documenting cast and splint procedures? Just want to know if they have to explain the procedure or if they can just state they put a long/short cast on patient during an office visit.

It is my understanding that application of cast/splint falls under the surgical section of the CPT book and therefore should have an operative report/procedure report just like any other surgical procedure.

I dont believe they are required to dictate "separate" page, but should still have a "procedure report" within the E/M or post op note.
