We have a new doc in our practice who came to us from a larger practice.

She insists that all she needs to do is initial the strip to document her professional interpretation and report on her EKG's. She also says that if she does not agree with the machine produced report she crosses it off and writes her interpretation on the strip.

I know she needs more than just her initials, but she wants it in writing. I showed her the Medicare instructions on EKG's in the ER and she says it doesn't apply to her, she's not working in the ER.

HELP! Does anyone have anything else to help this doc? She's a real dynamo and we love her.

Well according to the description "there must be a specific order for an electrocardiogram or rythym strip followed by a separate, signed written and retreivable report" This is on page 406 of the 2009 CPT professional edition.

Thanks!

This is a good start! I love the word 'separate'! This should help.
