I was just promoted to start doing the ASC coding for my facility. We have 5 specialities (Plastics, Ortho, Gyn, GI, & Pain Mgmt). I'm coming from billing.

We currently outsource our coding to another company, so we are just starting up the coding dept with just me :D. Can anyone suggest/recommend any computer programs, books, magazines, etc.. that we should purchase or subscribe to that will help me?

Thankyou all!

Facility Coding

Take the CPC-H certification. Get the study guide. In the meantime you can use it as reference until you complete the certification. This is facility coding.

Search the web sites for the specialties involved. Amer. College of Emergency Physicians has outstanding gold standard criteria for facility coding.

Also search CDC and CMS and AMA sites for facility coding information.

Take the AAPC PCS course. That is where outpatient/clinic coding is heading.

I will send you an attachment separately to your email address that might help.
