Hello,
I am being cited in an audit for not including views of the Atrial and Ventricular septums. Our physicians are documenting the following views Aortic, Mitral, Tricuspid and Pulmonary valve.
I cannot find anything stating the septums are part of this complete procedure.
I am being told to rebill using the limited code.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cathy

Not sure if this will help.

2D measures chamber size, thickness of walls, heart valve movements and E.F. (ejection fraction)

Doppler (93320) - assess cardiac valular performance and intracardiac pressure measurements. Valvular regurgitation and stenosis.

Color-flow - overall illustration of blood flow and identifies septal defects, stenosis, shunts. Report must specifically establish the color-flow was done and summarize the finding.

This article might help as well: http://www.supercoder.com/articles/...tions-focus-on-documentation-for-93320-93325/.

Thank you.
ATRIAL AND VENTSEPTA are part of the doppler according to
2010 ICAEL standards adult transthoraic echo testing..
No where in CPT does it state this...We document the valves.
We are told we have to rebill using the Limited doppler, not the complete.

ughhhhh
