DRG encephalopathy versus altered mental status

Can anyone tell me the DRG implications of using a diagnosis of metabolic encephalopathy versus delirium or altered mental status? Please provide references and citations.

These are entirely different diagnosis, you are in the nervous system or mental and behavioral or symptoms. You can look up the DRG for each of these but they are not interchangeable diagnosis. If you are coding for one patient then a copy of the note will assist with the correct way to code this.
